Twelfth Blog Assignment

What Myers means by "lying is a cooperative act" is that a lie has no value until both parties agree to believe the lie. I do agree with this because its true that a successful lie needs to be believed. It works if someone lets themselves believe the lie. When Myers says lying is a way of connecting what we wish we were with what we are, I think she is trying to say that people lie to make themselves feel better about themselves. I would agree with Truth #2 because us as humans are morally against lying but then we see that it is incorporated into our very society. We see that in some situations lying can get us places, so we live with the morally wrong act. When people lie they tend to speak in more formal language while distancing themselves from their subject. People who lie tend to have slips in their own body language. It is important to learn these lie detection strategies because its important to know when you are being lied to. I think is honesty is worth preserving ...

By the time I leave college I want to be able to succeed in a workplace, function as an adult, learn to deal with stressful situations, manage my time effectively, and be able to complete difficult tasks. Functioning as an adult would be like being able to be take on responsibilities like paying taxes, showing up to places you have to be at. Succeeding in a workplace would being able to respect yourself and the work environment. learning to deal with stressful situations is important because life always involves some degree of a stressful situation. Being able to manage time effectively will leave more time for recreational activities. Having the mental fortitude to complete difficult task would benefit you because life is full of difficult people from bosses to stubborn coworkers. I wish to gain these particular skills because in my opinion these are vitals skills for succeeding in life.

To whom it may concern,          College isn't as big and scary as many of my high school teachers made it seem like while I was in high school. One thing that worried me as a high school senior was stigma that all college professors don't really care if you pass or fail. This thankfully turned out to be a lie because in my college experience, as long as you communicate with your professor and let them know of anything that is relevant to the class. They actually guide and try to help you through it. Like any good teacher they want their students to succeed. If you put the effort in, they will mirror you effort and try their best to help you in anyway. What was also told to me as a senior was how strict college professors will be about deadlines for assignments. In reality this isn't necessary true because as long as you communicate with your professors they would be more accepting towards a late assignment. Communic...

My biggest regret would have to be "letting time go to waste". This would have to be letting myself be unproductive some days, not really doing much. I regret this because sometimes I feel like I'm not experiencing life. I'm still just going through the motions. This is very reversible. It is all about breaking the runt I find myself trapped in.  Regrets happen when we don't accept the truth of what happened.

Every day, Red would go and visit her Grandmother who lived out side the town in the woods. Red would make sure that her grandma was in good health. She smiled as soon as red poked her head in the door way of her little shack. "Good afternoon Grandma! I brought some food for Dinner" Red exclaimed.  Oh thank you so much Red. What will we be having tonight?" Red sets her basket and pulls out two pieces of bright red meat, along with 2 potatoes, some asparagus and ingredients for home made mac and cheese. As Red prepared dinner she notice they needed water, so she head out back to get water for her Grandmother's well. As she was walking back she notice a large number of claw marks around the well but not getting any closer to the house. This alarmed Red because she has never seen wolf tracks that big.       The lie that change my view of life was involving my Mom and her brother. Growing up when ever my Mom would talk about her brother and how he passed away. She would always say he died of a heat attack, which still sadden me because I never got the chance to meet him. As I got older I found out that this was my mom's white lie to protect us. What actually was my Tio George went through a very hard time, which lead to depression. It took its toll on my Tio which eventually lead him to take his life. When I finally found I see why my mom wanted to protect us from the truth. We simply weren't mature enough to hear that.

Fifth Assignment

The short film shows a variety of different people in an elevator be disruptive, by blasting their music from their phone. The last person to walk in has a boom box and when everyone thought he was gonna follow what everyone else was doing, instead he put earphones in to listen to his music. Everyone else quickly silenced their music devices. The author's purpose is to portray how people in public act, especially in public transportation. It takes place in a form of public transportation that is an elevator. I think its a good inference because of the setting and how the people are acting very rude towards each other. He made this video to portray his view of people that use public transportation. The intended audience are people in society. I came to conclusion because the people in the video are different ages and ethnic background.
